Zena Sharman

I believe that change is possible and that it must be rooted in care.

I’m a writer and consultant dedicated to creating communities and organizations grounded in care where no one is left behind. I write stories that change systems and uplift the care practices that help LGBTQ+ communities survive and flourish. I work with people and groups seeking to create more liberatory and just alternatives to the systems that exist around us.

Hi, I’m Zena.

Are you a leader who cares deeply about your work, your people, and the communities you serve? Are you curious about what’s happening beneath the surface, courageous enough to change what isn’t working, and willing to get comfortable with uncertainty?

If you answered “Yes” to these questions, let’s talk.

Here’s a little more about me: I’m Dr. Zena Sharman, a consultant, PhD-trained health researcher, and perennially curious learner. I’m passionate about understanding how we can create and sustain change in ways that centre collective liberation and prioritize care, relationships, and well-being.

My experience has taught me that change is an emotional, relational, and embodied process, yet we tend to underestimate their significance in helping change happen. The creative energy of imagining new ways of doing and being fuels change, yet we must also grieve what is lost in the process of moving from where we are to where we want to be.

My approach is relational and guided by my values: care, solidarity, learning, lineage, and transformation. I bring compassion, curiosity, and a people-centred approach to my work. I also bring the kind of purposeful pragmatism that comes from fifteen years’ experience as a leader in national and provincial organizations.
